Protocol

Protocol among nations and governments is an official expression of good manners. Adherence to protocol as prescribed by the International, when Lion dignitaries are present and as per local customs, in case of non-Lion dignitaries, is absolutely essential at Lions meetings whether be at the Club level or District or Multiple or International level. The following order of precedence should be followed. Only the Principal Speaker is required to address all dignitaries present. Others will address “the presiding officer and dignitaries on the dais and of the dais.” When a Lion holds more than one title, he shall be recognised for the highest one, like PDG, Past Cabinet Secy., Past Region Chairman etc.

  3. Past International Directors (c)
  4. District Governor
  5. Imm. Past District Governor
  6. Vice District Governor
  7. Past District Governor (c)
  8. Dist. Cabinet Secretary
  9. Dist. Cabinet Treasurer
  10. Region Chairperson (a)
  11. Zone Chairperson (a)
  12. District Chairperson (a)
  13. Club President
  14. Imm. Past Club President (a)
  15. Club Secretary
  16. Club Treasurer
  17. Past Club President (c)

Notes:

  1. When more than one is present, they shall be recognised in an alphabetical order.
  2. When more than one is present, the one who served most recently shall be given precedence.
  3. When more than one is present, precedence should be as per (b) above. In the event when more than one served during the same term, alphabetical order should be followed as per (a) above.

Head Table Seating
The presiding officer (1) of the meeting must always be seated at the most Central Seat of the table. the Principal speaker (2) will occupy seat No.2 on his right. The other Lion dignitaries will seated in accordance with the general order of preference. When wives are present, they should be seated to their husband’s left when on the left side of the table and to his right when on the right side of the table. In the event that the principal speaker is a lady, her husband should be seated at her right hand side.
